Fresenius Medical Care North America’s Ogden, Utah plant announced that they have successfully completed a year of operation with robots on their production lines. The equipment addition automated a section of their production assembly process. The facility produces millions of Dialyzers annually on several production lines that operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The PRE-TEC division of the Willamette Valley Company in Eugene Oregon designed and installed the three systems utilizing Fanuc robotic arms to transfer parts between machines and conveyors, a process that was previously performed manually by Fresenius employees.
“We concluded that the use of robots to replace the manual handling of parts at various steps
would enable people to move from labor-intensive, repetitive jobs into decision making positions that give them greater job satisfaction, and it has definitely worked out that way,” stated Rudy Valencia, Director, Dialyzer Manufacturing.
